Ryan Thomas
Field Technician
Hydroponics and a trip to Alaska ignited Ryan’s interest in learning more about our world and how to integrate technologies into ecology. This led him to pursue a degree in Natural Resources Management with a concentration in Conservation Science. During his time at Texas Tech University, Ryan continued to broaden his knowledge of animals by joining the Wildlife Society and ultimately ended up as an undergraduate researcher for the Geospatial Technologies Lab. As a researcher, Ryan conducted sUAS drone imagery flights and utilized machine learning to map out invasive plant species at the university’s native rangeland.
Fueled by his love for the planet and its intricate ecosystems, Ryan is thrilled to be a valuable member of EarthOptics’ field team. Ryan actively contributes to the advancement of ecological data, firmly believing that we can better take care of our planet if we have a better understanding of our surroundings - soil is the first level. Recognizing the pivotal role of soil in vegetative resource management, Ryan wholeheartedly embodies EarthOptics’ mission and values.
