Gabriel Cardona
Field Technician
Born and raised in South Texas, Gabriel has always had a passion for the outdoors and a deep-seated curiosity about the natural world. This love for nature initially led Gabriel to a career in clinical veterinary medicine, where he worked as a technician for four years. Seeking new challenges and ways to make a tangible difference, Gabriel joined AmeriCorps through the Student Conservation Association. There, he contributed to nature and park trail restoration projects, cultivating a robust understanding of ecological preservation.
This experience paved the way for a pivotal role with the National Ecological Observatory Network Program (NEON), where Gabriel served as a field lead. NEON, a 30-year initiative, studies the effects of climate change on regional flora and fauna across the Northern United States. In this capacity, he honed his leadership skills and deepened his expertise in ecological research and conservation. In his role at EarthOptics Gabriel advances his expertise in soil, while continuing to support environmental sustainability.
Gabriel enjoys a variety of hobbies. He is an avid hiker who loves exploring and getting lost in nature. When not outdoors, Gabriel can be found in the kitchen, experimenting with new recipes and cuisines inspired by their travels and culinary aspirations.
