Capturing Change: How Enriched Ag Is Transforming Ranch Monitoring with Machine Learning
At the recent Trust in Beef event in South Texas, attendees heard from Billy and Colton Cook of Enriched Ag, who shared how new technology is helping producers measure the impact of their ranch management decisions — without adding more work to their day.
“Everyone has management strategies,” Billy said. “But how many of you have time to actually monitor the changes happening on your ranch?”
That question lies at the heart of Enriched Ag’s innovation — a new way to see, understand, and quantify the health of working lands.
Turning Ranch Drives into Real Data
Enriched Ag’s system combines high-resolution imagery and machine learning to make field monitoring effortless. Mounted on a side-by-side, their compact 11-pound aluminum camera captures images every five seconds and records GPS data every second as producers go about daily tasks — from checking water to moving heifers.
“In about 40 minutes, we collected 2,700 images on this ranch,” Cook explained. “Once we upload that data, our models analyze it for bare ground, forage production, land diversity, and even the body condition of the cattle we drove past.”
Currently, Enriched Ag uses eight functional machine learning models to generate insights, with the potential to expand exponentially. “Five years from now, maybe we’ll have 80 models,” Cook said. “And when that happens, we can go back and reprocess today’s images to see exactly how management practices have changed this ranch over time.”
Bridging the Gap Between Science and Practicality
Traditional methods like transects and point-line intercepts provide valuable, localized insights but are time-intensive and difficult to scale across large operations. Enriched Ag’s approach takes that same level of precision and expands it across the entire landscape.
“We’re not just selling a box,” Cook emphasized. “We’re offering a solution.”
For ranchers, that means a clear picture of their land’s condition — and data they can act on. By correlating imagery with above-ground field data, Enriched Ag’s models create comprehensive, visual baselines that track progress in soil health, vegetation, and grazing outcomes.
Partnership in Action: Smart Brush Management with Corteva
Enriched Ag is already putting this technology to work in the field through a partnership with Corteva Agriscience on a brush management project.
“At no cost to the ranch, we’ll drive the property, collect imagery of brush-prone areas, and pair that with Corteva’s LandVisor™ platform,” Cook said. “Together, we make sure every dollar you spend on brush control is spent in the right spot.”
The program integrates grazing data and rangeland monitoring from Enriched Ag’s platform, giving producers a complete picture of vegetation health and treatment outcomes — all without extra labor or guesswork.
Measuring What Matters
Enriched Ag’s message aligns closely with the spirit of the Trust in Beef initiative: innovation that empowers producers to make data-driven, sustainable decisions that improve both land and livelihood.
By transforming everyday ranch activity into actionable insight, Enriched Ag is redefining what it means to measure progress in regenerative agriculture — proving that smarter tools can lead to smarter management, stronger soils, and more resilient operations.
